Ecclesiastes 3 states there is a season for everything. And since we live in an imperfect world that is fallen and broken, we also are subjected to seasons of pain, disappointment, loss, and trials.

Sometimes we Christians confuse the message of the Bible to be one of endless protection and joy. But that is not the promise of today – that is the promise of heaven.

It is in heaven where there will be no more pain, no more sorrow, no tears as Revelation 21:4 states. This is the future we must learn to fix our attention to, but again, that’s the future.

I have had a life full of suffering. So many horrible things have happened to me, but I never confuse the pain with God. God did not cause the pain or the brokenness of this world, but He is the One who is redeeming it.

You see, when Jesus left the perfection of the Trinity and came down into our mess, God was imparting His remedy to the problem.

Everyone experiences pain and trials-no one is above these things-even Christ himself faced horrific suffering all for love and redemption.

What Christ’s sacrifice did was restore a union between you and God. An ability for you to walk again with your Maker. While it is not Paradise, God now walks invisibly with all of His followers and this, my friends, is our weapon.

This is what the protection the Bible spoken about in the Bible looks like, that God is always with us and will never leave us. He empowers us with His strength and His love. He is with us. He is equipping and strengthening us for whatever this broken world throws at us, just like He did while on this earth.

Understanding suffering, pain, trials, is a very hard and complex topic. However, there are a couple of resources I would like to point you to:
