It's that time of year again - it's the holiday season!
And boy...does it get crazy!
There are errands to do. Meals to prepare. Guests to tend to. Presents to shop for (and then wrap). Parties to attend. Homes to clean. Traditions to keep going - and so much more.
Whew! The most wonderful time of the year quickly becomes hectic and tiresome, doesn't it?
As a society, we love the holiday season, but even our love for it is exhausting.
I often hear, while working with other Christians, that they wish their holidays were more peaceful, restful and joyous. They wish the holiday season reflected more of Jesus and less of the culture.
Far too often, the only Christ-centered thing that happens during the holiday season is a prayer before the meal and/or attending special church services. I myself often feel first hand the desire for more Christ in the holidays.
And the easiest - and most important - way to bring Jesus into the holiday season is through you! Yes, you!
In order to help you make your holiday season more about God, we have created a master list of all of our resources to help you in your quest! As a follower of Christ, you are an ambassador of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit literally indwells you. Where you go, God is with you. There is no magical formula to make the holidays about God, because God is already present. What's usually missing is our realization of that fact.
We often look for large, noticeable signposts to point us to God. While those things, like attending church or praying with your family, are important, they are not the only way to make your life more about God.
The number one way to make any holiday more Christ-centered is through you.
Well... you and your relationship with God.
When you embrace the dwelling of God with you at all times, your world becomes fuller, more joyous, more peaceful and more restful. Because you are not operating in your strength, but walking with God and drawing from his endless supply. As you do, God will speak to you, bringing forth a new approach to holidays, which may look the same on the outside, but internally is drastically different.
For you become a bearer of Jesus' light in the world.
Then, your holidays can become packed with God, because you are embracing God's presence with you! And as you embrace God's presence, God will bring forth ways to share his love and presence with your family and loved ones in a very meaningful way.
