Scripture For Weight Loss
Need some extra motivation for your weight loss journey?
Scripture can always help align our heart and inform our actions.
I created this post specifically for my Christian Weight Loss Facebook Group. So if you are a member of that group, yay thanks for checking out this page I created for you and me. If you are not a member of our fabulous and free Facebook Group, you can join here.
It’s really good for your weight loss journey to equip yourself with one grounding Scripture.
What I mean about grounding Scripture is that you will pick a verse(s) that speaks to you and your goals. Every time temptation or lack of motivation arises, you should reflect back on your power verse to reground you. Pick a Scripture that speaks to your heart. One that gives you hope and encouragement. Should you have a hard time picking one, talk with God about what verse He would like you to use. You could also choose a different verse for 25 days and see what God brings through that. The applications of these Scriptures are endless.
The translation in the below text is the NIV. The text in the graphics is either my own paraphrase, The Message, The Passion Translation.
Scripture For Weight Loss
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Proverbs 17:22
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Scripture For Weight Loss
Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,
Jonah 2:8
Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them.
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 63:5
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
Scripture For Weight Loss
Isaiah 40:31
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Romans 8:1-4
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Psalm 119:143
Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Scripture For Weight Loss
Psalm 139:14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Romans 6:14-16
For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
John 15:5
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Psalm 107:9
For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
Scripture For Weight Loss
Mark 9:23
“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Romans 7:15-20
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
John 8:31-32
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Psalm 145:15-16
The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
Romans 12:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
That’s it! I hope the Scripture for weight loss help you on your journey towards better health and help you achieve your goals with God.
