Sooooooooo, 2020 hasn’t panned out how we all thought when the year began. No one imagined on New Year’s Day a world-wide pandemic and all of the life-altering changes that have taken place that have taken place this year.
But as a result, many of us have faced enormous trials this year, from the loss of loved ones, to weeks spent fighting the virus before recovery, to loss of income and employment, to severe disruptions in everyday life and education, and much more. And of course, there are also all the people on the frontlines and essential employees who have had to undergo greatly increased risk in order to keep medical care and society functioning.
As summer 2020 approaches and we slowly move into a new stage of this pandemic, I think a lot of us feel rattled, shaken, tired, afraid, lonely, and maybe even angry.
But no one, especially the followers of Christ, has to live in these feelings.
Yes, it’s natural that we might feel this way, but Jesus came to claim all of those negative feelings. Jesus offers a new way of life, one that is filled with His presence, truth, love, and guidance. But we must continually seek Him for His power, love, and truth to claim victory over our trails.
We always have the choice to entrust our fears, stresses, and worries to the Lord. The more we are able to give over to God all the things that hold us back, the stronger we become. This is the life Jesus bought for us with His innocent death and magnificent resurrection.
So I challenge you to Restart 2020 by grabbing hold of Jesus and allowing Him to replace all of the negative feelings with His light, love, and grace. Over time, the more you keep your eyes on Him, the more you will reap the Fruit of the Spirit- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.
These are precious gifts and they only come from God.
Start today and reclaim 2020 by keeping your eyes on the Lord and trusting in His perfect will and plan.
