Yay! Welcome to our first ever lettering tutorial and practice sheet!
Below are three videos to help you get started.
Video 1: How To Use Your Lettering Sheet. This video shows some of the different markers you can use and how to use the sheet.
Video 2: Lettering Without A Guide. In this video, I show you the results of freehand lettering on blank paper without a guide.
Video 3: Basic Strokes in Lettering. In this video, I give you a quick look at the different strokes and how they look with the various markers you can use.
To do this project, you’ll need:
- 1 Marker (Sharpie or Crayola)
- The Printout (Make a few copies for practice, it can be downloaded at the end of this post.)
That’s it!
I almost always use Sharpies because I really like the look and control of it. But you should explore different types and really start getting your feet wet with how lettering looks and what it feels like.
I’m going to release more tutorials in the near future to help you really start learning this skill! You’ll be notified as soon as they are available since you are on the Christian Lettering email list.
A few more things:
I’m going to start a thread in our Facebook group for this project. I would love to see your work! Also, you can ask questions there and I’ll try to help guide you through.
Here are a few more ideas for using your newly learned phrase once you have learned how to write it:
- Write your phrase in your journal or on your Bible.
- Write it out on a nice piece of paper and display it for Thanksgiving.
- You can add it to placemats or even a pumpkin for holiday decor.
- Simply take a picture of and share encouragement and positivity on social media.
There are endless ways to apply this lettering to basically anything. I hope you enjoy and again I would love to see your projects or sheets in our Facebook group.
And finally…
Please keep in mind this should be a prayerful practice. Invite the Holy Spirit into your time spent lettering. Make this a holy and meaningful act and use it as a prayer time while spending time creating with the Creator.
So much more can come from lettering when you actively engage with God. Think about the things you are thankful for, and tell Him as you write. Ask Him to help you develop a more thankful heart, seeing His hand wherever you go. Pray blessings over people as you bring them before the Father while you write.
Not only will you begin to learn a new skill with this lettering sheet, but you will also be able to spend a creative time of prayer with our Lord and Savior. Nothing could be better!
