She is a mom, wife, and passionate believer that Jesus changes everything.
We just want to tell you a little bit about some huge and exciting changes happening with our ministry and changes you can expect to see in the near future!
For the past year and a half, we have been in serious prayer over our ministry presence online.
As you may or may not know, Aaron and I are both professional ministry leaders who have worked in the church for many years and held various positions from senior co-pastors to youth ministers, worship leaders, and just about everything in between.
Four years ago, we came up with the website domain name spirituallyhungry.com. We weren’t really sure at the time what we would do with the site, other than sharing our ministry online.
Hosting and sharing the content of Spiritually Hungry has been an incredible learning experience, particularly because our seminary educations and church careers never specifically prepared us for sharing the love of Jesus online!
As Spiritually Hungry has grown, we’ve also felt a deeper, more direct calling that, honestly, we are still working out with God. However, both Aaron and I have felt for some time that the name Spiritually Hungry doesn’t quite fit with what we are doing online.
Ultimately, we’ve come to the conclusion that a name change is an important step for us to take at this time in order to move forward with the new vision God has been developing in us.
But what name? And when to change it?
After countless (seriously…countless) hours of prayerful conversation, we believe God has led us to a new name, and that’s what we’re here to tell you about tonight.
We’re becoming Evergreen Disciple and evergreendisciple.com
Ah… it just brings a smile to my face to type it out. Over the next weeks and months, you’ll be seeing the name difference as we begin instituting this change.
The name Evergreen Disciple is born from Jeremiah 17:7-8:
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”
Our calling and invitation from God is to grow and thrive in our relationship with Him.God wants us to be a tree firmly rooted in His guidance, truth, and love. To be a tree that doesn’t lose it’s leaves – to be evergreen.
In Jesus’ ministry, we also see another call, a call to follow Him to be His disciple. And a true disciple not only rests in the Lord, but works in and through the Lord-no matter their vocation.
That’s why we are becoming Evergreen Disciple and evergreendisciple.com!
We want to help you become an even stronger disciple, one who discovers their true sense of strength from the Lord. We want to help you have unshakable faith, a faith that can withstand anything life throws at them. We want to help give you the tools and support to help combat stress, fear, anxiety, and all other things that rob us from the life God has for us.
We want to help you be that tree firmly planted that never loses it leaves.
Through our process of discernment, we’ve also identified three new areas where Evergreen Disciple will direct its content, in addition to our general Christian formation resources.
Evergreen Disciple’s focus moving forward will be on two main subdivisions: everyday discipleship and ministry leadership, both professional and volunteer.
Ministry and resources for everyday discipleship (i.e. monthly challenges and Christian formation resources) include:
- People who are looking to grow their relationship with God.
- Women who want to have unshakable faith.
- Parents of elementary aged kids who want to have a Christ-centered home.
-Training and equipping for ministry leaders includes resources and ideas for:
- Youth Ministers
- Volunteer Church Leaders
- Worship Leaders
- Women’s Ministry Leaders
- Kid’s Ministry Leaders
- Online Ministry (bloggers, social media ministry, etc)
- Small Group Leaders
- Bible Study Leaders
